Elevator Operation: Our elevators used to return to the lobby level after each assent. Most of the electric demand is for powering the lift. A valve opens to bleed the hydraulic fluid. So, "going down" is virtually a free ride.
On May 13, our elevator technician modified the sequential programs. The change will cause the elevator to stay at the floor last serviced. The cab will not return to the lobby unless called. This change has saved electricity by eliminating unnecessary ascents. Most residents say elevator waiting times have been reduced.
